WOW. this weekend!!!!!
If you follow me on social media you’ve probably seen some pictures from my time in Austin with 6 of the girls on my squad. It has been an AMAZING few days meeting/getting to know some of the sweetest souls I have ever been blessed with.
I have spent the last 6 days laughing until I cry, giving LOTS of hugs (very new for me), sharing meals, going for drives, and showing off the great state of TEXAS!!! This week has given me a glimpse of the friendships to come, life in community, and time to soak in the way these girls love God and others so well.
The biggest lesson I have learned (in the words of mg) from time with my squad is that there is ALWAYS room for everyone to be completely themselves. There is never someone who is too much or too little of anything because each of us have been perfectly crafted. God has formed this team in a way that will change and grow us in the best way possible and push us closer towards the ultimate goal of becoming more like Jesus.
I am honored to be in a community of girls that hold each other accountable and strive for a relationship with Him that in turn bears the fruit of healthy relationships with each other. A thought that hasn’t left my mind since I got here is “if these 5 days in Austin are this sweet, how much MORE does the Lord have for our team on the race?” How much more goodness? How much more faithfulness? How much more grace? How much more LOVE?!?!?!
I have learned that in order to truly love the people in your life, your focal thought must be: If I truly believe that God created each person in His image, who am I to pick and choose what parts of people I should love? Who am I to decide whether or not a person is worthy of my time or worthy of RELENTLESS efforts towards a strong relationship? To love like Jesus is to love UNCONDITIONALLY and to always leave the ninety-nine to chase and pursue the one.
So, I’ll spend these next 6 months until we are all reunited with a grateful heart for this sweet time and the most tender team. I’ll spend it with a mind that is set on loving Him so that I will be equipped in the best way to love these girls for 9 months and beyond. Feeling extra blessed for a weekend of loving Him, with company.
