hi everyone!! I have a very exciting update for you! This weekend I was able to hike a volcano here in Guatemala, Acatenango. We hiked up to 11,000 ft to spend the night at Base Camp and watch the other (active) volcano erupt all night! We were above the clouds, cities, and mountains with a perfect view of the stars and even a glimpse of the Pacific Ocean!

The 6 hour hike to base camp was not quick or easy in any sense, but getting to the camp and seeing the view for the first time made it all worth it!!

After a long day of hiking, we were ready to eat and get to bed! We had an early morning ahead of us: a 2 hour hike to see the sunrise from the peak of Acatenango. I ended up not making it to the peak and stayed back at a lower point to watch the sunrise (still so beautiful). It was really hard for me because I wanted to summit more than anything, but as I was praying while deciding if I should keep going or stay back, the Lord spoke to me in a really sweet way…

He said to me “Bree, you can do this, but you don’t have to do this. You don’t need to prove yourself to me or anyone else because you’re already enough in my eyes! I am proud of you whether you do hard things or not because I love you for who you are, not what you do!”

So, I sat on the side of the path with a pounding headache and eyes full of tears and watched one of the most beautiful sunrises I’ve ever seen. But better than any of that was the sweet time throughout this weekend where I just talked to my Father and He talked to me. Despite the volcanoes and weekend trips and even the ministry that I love so much, nothing here in Guatemala or anywhere compares to the love that I get to receive every day from the Lord!!!

His love + mine,

bree

  1. Thank you for sharing that intimate time with The Lord. He is truly good and I love how He reminds us of that. What a sight to see being that high above the clouds. As if in another world. Can’t wait to see y’all soon.

  2. What a sweet word the Lord had for you. Isn’t that just like Him? His grace, His love poured out once again. No doubt, the experience, the time with Him are memories you will treasure for a lifetime.

  3. Dearest Bree, I have never met you. But, taught with Lori and Knew David. Plus your mom loved horses. How you have Allowed God to work through.. is so your mom and grandmother. God is love and faith
